CCTV’s “Dialogue” focuses on “the material of pillars”, Xining’s 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base attracts attention again
”A bundle of T1000carbon fiber is only 0.5 grams per meter long, but its strength can bear a force of about 500 kilograms. A bundle as thick as a finger Carbon fiber can pull two C919 aircraft.” On November 12, in the special planning of “Dialogue” broadcast on the CCTV Financial Channel – the “Materials of the Pillars” of the China Industrial Coordinate Series, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China National Building Materials Group Zhou Yuxian deciphered the process of domestic carbon fiber research and development for the audience, and also allowed people inside and outside the industry to understand the current production status of domestic carbon fiber T1000, T800, and T700.
Following the camera, we saw my country’s first 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base in Xining, Qinghai. The base was invested and constructed by Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Building Materials Group, and was selected as one of the top ten super projects of central enterprises in 2021. , is a huge production system containing more than 3,000 key process points, and is the world’s largest T800 and T700 production base. It is understood that it only took more than 700 days for the project to go from being a wasteland to being completed and put into production. It was successfully put into operation in September 2021. For the first time, it realized the design and high-end high-performance carbon fiber production line with a single-line annual output of 3,000 tons. The complete set of technologies is independent and controllable, breaking the foreign technology monopoly. It is the first to realize the dry-jet wet spinning T700 and T800 carbon fiber engineering of 100 tons and the T1000 carbon fiber engineering of 100 tons. It has achieved significant results in scientific and technological research and accelerated my country’s high-end application market. The domestic carbon fiber substitution process has achieved a safe and controllable domestic carbon fiber supply chain, further enhancing the international competitiveness of domestic carbon fiber.
Invest in a Santana a day
Carbon fiber is a key strategic material urgently needed for national security and weapons and equipment. The few countries that have mastered this technology have long-term technological blockade and monopoly, resulting in carbon fiber being always in short supply in the Chinese market, seriously affecting the country’s economic construction and national defense development. Zhang Guoliang, chairman of Lianyungang Yingyou Textile Machinery Group and Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., has been determined to develop domestic carbon fiber since 2005. In 2007, he jointly established Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. with China National Building Materials Group to promote the carbon fiber industry. embarked on a new development track. In 2009, a 1,000-ton T300 carbon fiber production line using wet spinning technology was successfully constructed and achieved stable production, and then began to move towards T700, T800 and above carbon fibers.
In the program, Zhou Yuxian introduced that the production process of T300 carbon fiber is completely different from that of T700, T800, and T1000. Zhongfu Shenying started to find a new way in 2009 and has been doing experimental work. However, until 2012, almost three consecutive years No results. “Zhang Guoliang, Chairman of Zhongfu Shenying, once said that at the peak of R&D, the R&D expenses were equivalent to a Santana car per day, and the R&D expenses for one day were very large. But the hard work paid off, and after more than three years of hard work, we finally achieved a breakthrough. T700 carbon fiber was successfully produced.” Zhou Yuxian introduced.
Afterwards, the “Thousand-ton dry-jet wet-spinning high-performance carbon fiber industrialization key technology and independent equipment” led by Zhongfu Shenying was awarded the 2016 ChinaTextile IndustryFirst Prize of the Federation Science and Technology Award; the project “Key Technologies and Applications of Dry-Jet Wet Spinning Thousand-ton High-Strength/Hundred-ton Medium-Model Carbon Fiber Industrialization” won the first prize of the 2017 National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2019, it took the lead in realizing the engineering of dry-jet wet-spun T1000 ultra-high-strength carbon fiber in China, and made an important strategic plan to settle the “20,000-ton annual high-performance carbon fiber and supporting raw yarn project” in Xining. In 2021, Xining’s 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base was successfully put into operation, achieving for the first time the design of a single-line high-performance carbon fiber production line with an annual output of 3,000 tons and the independent control of high-end complete sets of technology.
Cracking mainly relies on importscurrent situation
The commissioning of the 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base in Xining, Qinghai has brought important significance to the industry. Zhou Yuxian said in the program that the international market price of T1000 carbon fiber used to be 10 million yuan/ton, but now the T1000-grade carbon fiber produced at the Xining Carbon Fiber Base only costs 2 to 3 million yuan per ton, which is one-third of the international market price. About one.
Not only that, Du Shanyi, a well-known mechanics and composite materials expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also commented on the significance of the 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base in Xining, Qinghai. “This has two meanings. The first meaning is to meet demand, because China’s demand for carbon fiber is getting faster and faster. In about 2021 and 2022, we will have almost reached 50% of the world’s total carbon fiber demand. It is definitely No. 1 in the world and can solve demand problems. The second significance is that the construction of a 10,000-ton production base has established confidence for those engaged in materials industry research. What foreigners can do, we Chinese can do, and we may do it in the future. We can do it better and faster than him. Now it can be predicted that the development speed of our carbon fiber will exceed that of foreign countries, and I think it will be probably within three or two years, regardless of our quality, or quantity, I should say that I think it is at least on par with foreign countries, and may even surpass it.”
Zhou Yuxian introduced that the 10,000-ton carbon fiber production base in Xining, Qinghai has solved to a large extent China’s previous dependence on imports. “For example, our country’s entire carbon fiber consumption in 2021 will be 63,000 tons, two-thirds of which are imported and one-third of which are self-produced. However, our base will reach 2.5 by the end of this year. Ten thousand tons. That means that the commissioning of our base can basically meet one-third of our country’s supply. By the end of 2022, two-thirds of our country may be able to use our own domestic carbon fiber. This is A huge leap forward.”
With the increase in domestic high-performance carbon fiber production, the application fields of carbon fiber will be further expanded in the future. Du Shanyi mentioned that after the domestic carbon fiber production scale increases, it will drive a series of industries that can use carbon fiber to use it. Nowadays, carbon fiber has expanded from national defense, aviation, and aerospace to energy, modern transportation, marine engineering, and ship structures, including infrastructure, bridges, and other fields, with a very wide range of applications. At the same time, the application of carbon fiber has also improved the level of various equipment.
The wind power field is also an important area for carbon fiber applications. Qin Haiyan, vice chairman of the World Wind Energy Association and secretary-general of the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, mentioned that although the proportion of carbon fiber currently used in the wind power field is still relatively small, the amount of carbon fiber used in the wind power industry in the future will far exceed that of other industries. In 2021, only a small part of the blades in the wind power industry will use carbon fiber, and the usage will be about 30,000 tons, basically accounting for 30% of the global carbon fiber usage. In the future, as larger blades are put into use, the demand for carbon fiber will increase exponentially. It is estimated that by 2025, due to the development of offshore wind power and large-scale films, the demand for carbon fiber in the wind power industry will be 90,000 tons, and may increase to 200,000 tons by 2030.
