Hechi, Guangxi: Promote intercropping technology in mulberry orchards to improve the efficiency of the sericulture industry
It is understood that Yizhou District, Hechi City currently has 390,000 acres of mulberry orchards. For many years, mulberry orchards have been “abandoned” in winter and the land utilization rate is low. This winter, Yizhou District began to explore interplanting potatoes in mulberry orchards. New technology can not only improve land utilization efficiency, but also increase the income of silkworm farmers. At present, three mulberry orchard interplanting potato demonstration bases have been established in Desheng, Luoxi and Hechi City Silkworm Breeding Farm Silkworm Base.
The science and technology commissioners went to the base to provide on-the-spot guidance to growers on fertilization and potato sowing, and provided technical training and guidance on the later management of interplanted potatoes in mulberry orchards. It is predicted that interplanting potatoes in mulberry gardens can produce more than 1,000 kilograms of potatoes per mu, with an output value of more than 1,000 yuan.
