2023 China International Cotton Conference opens in Guangxi

Hou Shunli, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Council of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, said in his opening speech that the China International Cotton Conference is an important industry conference approved by the State Council and has broad influence at home and abroad. He believes that the high-quality development of the cotton industry can be promoted from three aspects: first, strengthening innovation leadership and enhancing high-quality development momentum; second, adhering to green development and advocating the promotion of green consumption; third, promoting open cooperation to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.
Gao Fang, President of the China Cotton Association, said in the keynote speech at the opening ceremony that in the face of unfavorable factors such as rising raw material and energy prices and U.S. dollar interest rate hikes, China’s cotton and textile industries will show strong resilience and supply chains in 2022. Rapid response capabilities, production, consumption, and textileexports remain stable. Among them, the annual export of textiles and clothing reached US$323.35 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. Gao Fang said that the future development of China’s cotton industry must follow the path of high-quality and sustainable development, so that industry development can benefit more stakeholders and make positive contributions to economic growth, technological progress, environmental protection, social development, etc.
Qin Rupei, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Secretary of the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Autonomous Region, and Zhao Zhonghua, Director of the Standing Committee of the Guilin Municipal People’s Congress, also attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
This meeting will last until the 16th. During the meeting, the guests will deliver keynote speeches on three topics: “Macro policy and environment”, “Situation analysis and outlook” and “International market status and development trends”. During the roundtable dialogue, industry insiders will also conduct in-depth discussions on the two topics of “futures derivatives serve the high-quality and sustainable development of the cotton industry” and “sustainable cotton and high-quality development.”
The organizers will also release the first batch of end products listed in the China Cotton Sustainable Development Project (CCSD) at the “China Cotton Night” event.
The 2023 China International Cotton Conference is co-sponsored by the China Cotton Association and the National Cotton Trading Market, and co-organized by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Supply and Marketing Cooperative Federation. The conference has been held every two years since 1999, and this year is the 13th.
