1. Evaluation criteria for fabric flame retardancy
Evaluation There are usually two methods for the flame retardant performance of fabrics:
1. Judging by the burning rate of the fabric: the fabric is exposed to the flame for a certain period of time according to the prescribed method. Finally, remove the flame and measure the afterburning and smoldering time of the fabric as well as the damaged length of the fabric. The shorter the afterburning and smoldering time and the lower the damage length, the better the flame retardant performance of the fabric.
2. Judge by measuring the extreme oxygen index (LOI) of the sample: The oxygen index refers to the amount of oxygen required for burning the fabric. The higher the oxygen index. , indicating that the higher the oxygen concentration required to maintain combustion, the more difficult it is to burn. The volume concentration of oxygen in the air is approximately 21%. If the oxygen index is less than 20%, it is a flammable fiber; if the oxygen index is between 20% and 26%, it is a flammable fiber; if the oxygen index is between 26% and 34%, it is a flame-retardant fiber; if the oxygen index is above 35%, it is non-flammable. fiber. Note: The oxygen index method is more suitable for process experiments.
2. Commonly used flame retardant testing methods
1. Combustion test method : According to the relative position of the sample and the flame, it can be divided into vertical method, 45 degree method and horizontal method. The vertical method is generally used for flame retardant properties of clothing fabrics, decorative fabrics, tent fabrics, etc.; the 45-degree tilt method is suitable for interior decoration fabrics in aircraft; the horizontal method is suitable for carpets and other matting fabrics and automobile interior fabrics.
2. Extreme oxygen index method: Place the clamped sample vertically into a transparent combustion tube. There is an upward moving oxygen and nitrogen flow in the tube, and ignite the test. Sample end, then observe the combustion phenomenon, and compare its continuous burning time or damage length with the prescribed limit value. Through a series of experiments on samples in different oxygen concentrations, the lower oxygen concentration value required for combustion can be maintained.
The flame-retardant fabrics produced by the city’s textile industry mainly include cotton flame-retardant fabrics, CVC flame-retardant fabrics, cotton nylon flame-retardant fabrics, aramid flame-retardant fabrics and Modified acrylic cotton flame retardant fabrics and other materials, specifications, colors. It can pass multiple testing standards of European standards and American standards, and the quality is more guaranteed.
