The melting point of polyamide fibers such as nylon is generally 215°C, the decomposition temperature is 315°C, and the ignition point is 530°C. Because the temperature difference between its melting point and ignition point is large, it is easier to melt and drip when burning, and it is separated from the source without burning. Therefore, nylon (nylon) fiber is considered to be self-extinguishing.
Requirements for flame retardants in cotton-nylon blended fabrics (nylon cotton)
Flame retardants containing nitrogen and phosphorus elements are very effective when used on polyester and cotton fabrics, but the effect when used on nylon fabrics is very unsatisfactory, while chlorine-containing flame retardants such as chloride and bromide are very effective. The flame retardant has little effect on the flame retardant effect of nylon (cotton nylon). In actual production, we generally use Proban flame retardant, a flame retardant containing phosphorus elements. Usually when the content of nylon is 12%, its flame retardant performance can reach standards such as EN470-1, EN11611, EN11612, EN531, EN533, BS5852, NFPA2112, NFPA, ASTM and GB8965-98.
Characteristics of cotton-nylon blended (nylon-cotton) flame-retardant fabrics
The main feature is that after the production and finishing of this flame retardant, permanent cross-linking is formed inside the fabric, thus making it have durable flame retardant properties, good wear resistance, and strength. Better, softer to the touch, good washing resistance, non-toxic and odorless, safe and reliable for the human body, breathable and moisture-permeable, soft to the touch, and comfortable to wear. This flame-retardant fabric can not only effectively prevent the spread of flames, but also maintain The original properties of the fabric.
In addition to having excellent flame retardant properties, protective clothing made of this kind of fabric can also effectively prevent sparks and metal droplets from splashing , with higher ATPV value and better thermal protection performance, it is a relatively high-end choice among flame-retardant fabrics.
