Uruguay wool export volume and price rise
According to a report by Uruguay’s “Observer” on January 18, Uruguay’s sheep industry exports reached US$328 million in 2018, a new high since 2014. Among them, the export of wool and its derivative products reached US$252 million, accounting for 70% of the total export value.
According to the report, the quantity of wool exports in 2018 increased by 2% year-on-year. However, due to the increase in wool prices, the total export value increased by 19% year-on-year. Among them, the export value of dirty wool increased by 19%. 32%.
From the perspective of export destinations, China is Uruguay’s largest wool export destination. In 2018, the amount of dirty wool, scouring wool and wool tops imported from Uruguay accounted for 10% of Uruguay’s total. 59%, 75%, 25% of similar products are exported. Germany, another major export market of Uruguay, mainly imports wool tops from Uruguay: in 2018, Germany’s imports of tops from Uruguay increased by 17% year-on-year, far exceeding the total amount of dirty wool and washed wool imported from Uruguay.
