According to China Customs data, domestic ethylene glycol imports from January to August 2016 totaled 4.8074 million tons, a decrease of 1.0482 million tons compared with the same period last year, and the decline rate was 17.9 %, import volume continues to fall, domestic production increases, and downstream polyester consumption fails to release.
From the perspective of monthly average quantity, the average monthly import volume of domestic ethylene glycol from January to August 2016 was 600,900 tons, a decrease of 13.11% from the average monthly import volume in the same period last year. million tons, a decline of 17.9%. Overall, import volume has shrunk significantly. It is expected that import volume will decline by about 1.5 million tons in 2016.

As shown in the above figure, the main importing, producing and selling countries (regions) of domestic ethylene glycol in recent years are Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Canada, South Korea, Kuwait, Singapore, Iran and Japan. Countries and regions, among which the total imports of ethylene glycol from the above-mentioned countries in the figure account for 98.7% of the total domestic imports, and the imports from other countries can basically be ignored. The import details from January to August are analyzed by producing and selling countries. The overall import volume has decreased compared with 2015, and there is no sign of a significant recovery in the second half of the year.
