Zhang Xinyou, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, pointed out at the promotion meeting that currently, the cotton area in Henan Province once reached 10 million acres, and the textile industry now accounts for a high proportion of the country. It is necessary to increase cotton on the basis of stable grain production, and actively explore the intercropping rotation planting model of cotton and other crops such as peanuts and corn, as well as the reform of double direct seeding cotton planting methods after wheat and oil.
Academician Li Peiwu of the Oil Crops Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences also emphasized that with the changing situation, cotton production in the Yellow River Basin and Yangtze River Basin has been valued again.
