Xinjiang releases recommendations for 35 main cotton varieties for the first time
In order to guide cotton growers to scientifically select high-quality cotton varieties and further improve cotton quality and consistency, the Autonomous Region Cotton Association recently issued the “2022 Autonomous Region Cotton Variety Recommendations”, which includes 11 cotton-growing prefectures in the region. City, 38 cotton-growing counties (cities), and 45 ecological zones recommend 35 main cotton varieties that take into account quality and yield and meet the planting wishes of local cotton farmers.
Su Xuhong, deputy secretary-general of the Autonomous Region Cotton Association, said that in order to better solve the problem of many and mixed cotton varieties in our region, improve the consistency of raw cotton quality, and improve the cotton quality in our region, The Autonomous Region Cotton Association combines the quality, yield, resistance, adaptability and suitability of cotton varieties in various states, and makes recommendations through fair and scientific screening and comparison. It recommends planting one main variety and two auxiliary varieties in the same ecological area. That is, “one main and two auxiliary” cotton varieties. Among them, there are 15 in Northern Xinjiang, 4 in Eastern Xinjiang, and 16 in Southern Xinjiang.
