When I first came to Xinjiang to plant cotton, I hired manual workers to pick it. The labor cost per mu was about 1,000 yuan. Now it is mechanized picking, and the cost per mu is 160 yuan. In the past, 160 It takes more than a month for labor to pick up an acre of land. Nowadays, mechanical cotton picking can be done in one day, which is fast, efficient and saves money.”
In recent years, the 11th Regiment has made every effort to promote and apply cotton variety selection and satellite positioning and navigation precision sowing technology, water-saving irrigation technology, and machine-picked cotton technology, allowing employees to participate in the entire process of land preparation, sowing, and harvesting. The process has been mechanized, and cotton production has steadily developed towards fast, low-cost, high-yielding, efficient and high-quality production.
“This year, we have planted 6,300 acres of cotton for the second consecutive year. We have 3 cotton picking machines. We started harvesting on October 1 and have harvested more than 1,000 acres so far. It is expected that all harvesting work will be completed on the 20th and we will prepare for the coming year. production.” said Fan Songlin, commander of the second company.

All 124,700 acres of cotton will be harvested before November 5.”
