870,000 acres of cotton sowing in Jinghe County, Xinjiang begins

On April 4, in the 810-acre cotton field of Ma Guohua, a farmer in Haxianan Village, Daheyanzi Town, the cotton seeder was slowly moving forward. Ma Guohua said: “The temperature has risen significantly recently, which is a good time for spring sowing of cotton. We use 5 high-power machines and expect to finish sowing in two days.”
Ma Guohua is a major cotton grower in Daheyanzi Town. This year he adopted the “wide, early and excellent” cotton planting model, adjusting the original six rows per film to three rows per film, and the plant spacing was also adjusted from 9 cm to 7 cm. By reducing cotton planting density and increasing light transmittance, it is expected to increase yield by 50 kilograms per mu and increase income by about 500 yuan per mu.
Ma Guohua said: “The cotton variety selected this year is Guoxing 1402. The advantage of this cotton is that it is drought and disease resistant. Last year, it produced 460 kilograms per mu. This year, it is planted in three rows and is expected to produce 530 kilograms per mu.”

Provide technical services and training to growers to lay a solid foundation for this year’s cotton harvest and farmers’ increased production and income.”
It is understood that Jinghe County plans to plant 870,000 acres of cotton this year, creating a “five unifications” planting layout, adopting technologies such as precision seeding, drip irrigation under the film, and dry sowing and wet seeding to promote the construction of high-standard farmland and high-quality cotton production base. At present, the county has invested more than 4,200 agricultural machinery and tools to ensure the smooth progress of cotton spring sowing, and the spring sowing work is expected to be completed before April 20.
