Flame retardant clothing protective clothing Chinese standard flame retardant test welding clothing
China’s protective clothing testing standards mainly include fire protection clothing issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China and the National Standardization Administration of China. and welding clothing standards GB 8965.1-2009, GB 8965.2-2009; GA 10-2002, GA 140-1996 issued by the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China; labor and labor safety industry standard LD 58-1994.
1. GB 8965.1 Flame-retardant clothing
This standard specifies flame-retardant clothing The technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging and storage are suitable for protective clothing worn in open flames, molten metal and other occasions. The flame retardant test is performed in accordance with GB/T 5455-1997 vertical burning method. The flame retardant requirements for protection levels are shown in Table 1.
| Table 1: Flame retardant requirements for flame retardant clothing | |||
| Test project | Protection Level | ||
| A Level | Level B | C Level | |
| Continued Burning time/s | ≤2 | ≤2 | ≤5 |
| Smoldering time/s | ≤2 | ≤2 | ≤5 |
| Damage length/mm | ≤50 | ≤100 | ≤150 |
| Melting, dripping | Not allowed | ||
2. GB 8965.2 welding clothing
This standard sets requirements for the performance of protective clothing used in welding sites. The flame retardant test is performed in accordance with GB 5455. The flame retardant performance requirements are shown in Table 2.
| Table 2: Flame retardant requirements for welding clothing | |||
| Test project | Protection level | ||
| Level A | Level B | Level C | |
| Burning time/s | ≤2 | ≤4 | ≤5 |
| Smoldering time/ s | ≤2 | ≤ 4 | ≤5 |
| Damage length/mm | ≤50 | ≤100 | ≤150 |
| Burning feature | Burning must not spread to the top and edges of the specimen | ||
| The specimen cannot Melt and penetrate to form holes | |||
| The sample cannot produce flammable burning or melting debris | |||
3. GA 10 firefighter fire-fighting protective clothing
This standard was promulgated by the Ministry of Public Security of China and stipulates the protective clothing worn during fire fighting and rescue. The content includes: the overall performance of flame-retardant clothing, the flame-retardant properties of clothing and stitching , mechanical properties of clothes, structural design, processing and production, finished product marking, packaging and transportation, inspection methods, etc. The flame retardant test is performed in accordance with GB 5455. The flame retardant performance requirements of the outer layer, insulation layer, comfort layer and reflective tape of the fabric are shown in Table 3.
| Table 3: Flame retardant requirements for firefighting clothing | ||||
| Test project | Fabric | Reflective tape | ||
| Outer layer | Insulation layer | Comfort layer | ||
| Damage length/mm | ≤100 | ≤100 | ||
| Burning time/s | ≤2 | ≤2 | ≤2 | |
| Melting, dripping | Not allowed | |||
4. GA 140 Fire command uniform
This standard sets requirements for the clothing with certain protective functions worn by fire commanders when directing fire fighting operations. The flame retardant test is performed in accordance with GB5455, and the requirements are as follows: (1) The damaged length shall not exceed 150mm. (2) The afterburning time is no more than 5s. (3) The smoldering time shall not exceed 25 seconds. (4) There should be no melting or dripping.
5. LD 58 forest fire protection clothing
This standard is for forest firefighters to wear of protective clothing. The flame retardant test adopts GB/T 5454 oxygen index method and GB/T 5455 vertical method. The performance indicators are shown in Table 4.
| Table 4: Flame retardant requirements for forest fire protection clothing | |||
| Test Project | Protection level | ||
| Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | |
| Oxygen index LOI /% | ≥33 | ≥30 | ≥27 |
| Burning time/s | 0 | ≤2 | ≤4 |
| Smoldering time/s | 0 | ≤2 | ≤4 |
| Damaged length/mm | ≤50 | ≤85 | ≤120 |
| Melting shrinkage | Not allowed | ||
It can be seen from the above five standards promulgated by our country that the flame retardant test methods are all implemented in accordance with the GB/T 5455 vertical method. LD 58 forest fire protection clothing also adopts the GB/T 5455 vertical method. T 5454 Oxygen Index Method. The two standards of GB 8965 divide the performance requirements of flame-retardant clothing and welding clothing into three protection levels. From the three indicators of afterburning time, smoldering time and damage length, the A and C levels of flame-retardant clothing and protective clothing are The requirements are the same; Class B flame retardant clothing has stricter regulations on afterburning and smoldering time than Class B welding clothing. The flame retardant requirements for the outer layer and insulation layer of fire extinguishing clothing in GA 10 are similar to the Class B requirements for flame retardant clothing specified in GB 8965.1. The requirements for fire command uniforms in GA 140 are looser than the Class C requirements stipulated in GB 8965﹒1. LD 58 forest fire-resistant clothing has stricter requirements among the five domestic standards. The three levels of this standard have higher requirements for fabrics than the corresponding levels in GB 8965﹒1. In addition, the limiting oxygen index of the fabrics needs to be assessed. .
