There are generally three methods for durable flame-retardant finishing of pure cotton:

A． Proban/ammonia fumigation process. The Proban method was first used in industrial production by the British Wilson Company. The traditional Proban method is a baking process after padding with flame retardant THPC. The improved method is the Proban/ammonia fumigation process. The process flow is: Padding flame retardant finishing → drying → ammonia fumigation → oxidation → washing → drying. This is a process that is currently recognized as having good flame retardant effect, small fabric strength reduction, and little impact on hand feel.
B. Pyrovatex CP finishing process. The product has good flame retardant properties and good durability. It can withstand household washing for 50 or even more than 200 times. It feels good, but the strength decreases slightly. There are twenty to thirty domestic manufacturers using this type of flame retardant.
C. Temporary and semi-durable flame retardant finishing of pure cotton – flame retardant and washable number requirements for electric blankets, wall coverings, sofa cloths and other fabrics It’s not very high. This type of product can be treated with temporary or semi-durable flame retardant finishing. That is, it can withstand 1-15 times of gentle washing, but it is not resistant to soaping. There are mainly borax-boric acid process, diammonium hydrogen phosphate process, phosphoramide process, dicyandiamide process, etc. The above process is rarely used in industrial production of pure cotton fabrics.
The durable flame-retardant cotton fabrics produced in the city mainly use Proban and Pyrovatex CP finishing processes.
