China Natural Fiber Year Forum will be held
In response to the “2009 International Year of Natural Fibers” series of activities initiated by the United Nations, the “2009 China Year of Natural Fibers Forum”, guided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Yunnan Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, will be held in Yunnan from April 15th to 17th. Held in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture. The theme of this forum is the economic significance of the development and utilization of natural fibers and the contribution of scientific research results to farmers’ income and rural economy.
The forum is co-organized by China Hemp Research Center, China Textile Industry Association, Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hemp Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., China Textile Newspaper and other units. Du Yuzhou, President of China Textile Industry Association, serves as the honorary chairman of this forum.
This forum is one of the theme series activities of “2009 United Nations International Year of Natural Fibers”. The purpose of the International Year of Natural Fibers is to promote the production and consumption of natural fibers, further promote the development of natural fiber-related industries, increase farmers’ income and protect the global environment. This forum will explore appropriate government support policies for the current problems faced by the natural fiber industries in various countries; and improve the efficiency and sustainable development of the natural fiber industry by promoting the research, development, promotion and application of new technologies.
