2009: The golden period for the development of China’s industrial textiles, looking forward to breaking through the “zero famous brand”
For many people who are not familiar with the textile industry, industrial textiles is still a somewhat unfamiliar term. Even ordinary people in the textile industry may only have a concept of it. And if you are a senior person in the industry, it is still a difficult task to answer who is a well-known company or brand in China’s industrial textiles industry.
Because this is simply a proposition with no answer: China’s industrial textiles currently do not have a well-known company or brand.
An important force in “maintaining growth”
For those who don’t know about industrial textiles, if they think of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake that just passed and the urgently needed supplies and equipment for earthquake relief – tents, by the way, they are typical industrial textiles.
Industrial textiles are generally defined as: specially designed engineering textile structural materials used in products, manufacturing processes and supporting services in many non-textile industries. They are used in aerospace, construction, transportation, highways, water conservancy construction, etc. It has irreplaceable uses in various aspects such as environmental protection.
In recent years, China’s industrial textiles have developed rapidly, and the 16 fields involved have grown to varying degrees. In 2007, industrial textiles accounted for 15.42% of the total textile fiber processing, reaching 5.4432 million tons, with a growth rate of 12.97%. In 2008, when the textile industry was in dire straits, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics: From January to November 2008, my country’s industrial textiles and nonwovens industry enterprises above designated size achieved a total industrial output value of 32.797 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21. 44%, becoming an important force in “maintaining growth” in China’s textile industry.
Zhu Minru, chairman of the China Industrial Textiles Industry Association, analyzed that the rapid growth of industrial textiles is due to, first, the rapid development of China’s economy which has laid a solid foundation for the development of the industry; second, my country has a rich supply of raw materials; third, production The enhanced localization of equipment has met the huge market demand; fourth, the development of the industry has prompted companies to increase their efforts in talent training; fifth, the China Textile Industry Association has attached great importance to industrial textiles.
The “high” of the industry and the “low” of the enterprise
With the rapid growth of the entire industry, why is there not a single well-known company or brand?
Wang Tiankai, Vice President of the China Textile Industry Association, pointed out during a survey in Guangdong that blind expansion and low-level duplication exist in the industrial textiles industry, resulting in oversupply of some products, especially some mainstream products. In order to sell products, some companies reduce prices and engage in price wars, which is not beneficial to the industry. In order to reduce costs, some companies use substandard raw materials and even add some calcium carbonate to increase weight, harming the interests of users and consumers. These phenomena must be strictly eradicated based on industry self-discipline. At the same time, it is necessary to speed up the formulation of relevant standards so that everyone has a common norm to abide by.
The China Industrial Textiles Industry Association also analyzed other specific factors in the report.
First, poor equipment operation affects enterprise production. Problems such as unstable operation of some domestic equipment and lax product quality control have also caused trouble for production companies. Due to the frequent equipment breakdowns, some production companies even dare not confirm delivery dates with customers.
Second, the range of raw materials used is still too narrow. At present, the proportion of natural fibers used is still too large, and the natural fibers are still mainly cotton and wool. This is a very big limitation.
Third, the processing methods of industrial textiles are single. Just using nonwovens to define it is somewhat limiting. It should be an industry in which a variety of processing methods exist.
Fourth, the application fields of industrial textiles are not broad. In our country, many industries still do not understand these application fields.
Fifth, product level and technical content need to be improved. There is still a big gap between my country’s industrial industry and foreign countries in terms of equipment level and technical content, as well as equipment materials, processing methods and precision, and processing technology.
Looking forward to breaking through “zero famous brands” in 2009
The year 2009 will become a golden period in the development process of China’s industrial textiles industry.
Since the end of last year, in response to the international financial crisis and domestic economic recession, our country has introduced major measures to stimulate the domestic demand economy. In the construction of infrastructure, railways and other major infrastructure, it will greatly increase the use of geosynthetic materials and other industries. demand for textiles. At the same time, the country’s vigorous development of medical and health services will also provide a broad market space for medical and health textiles. At the beginning of this year, the State Council passed the textile industry adjustment and revitalization plan, which included promoting the application of industrial textiles as an important content. This is a golden opportunity for China’s industrial textiles.
How to seize this historic opportunity, cultivate key enterprises in the industry, and launch well-known brands of Chinese industrial textiles. The China Industrial Textiles Industry Association proposed that the more prominent problem in the industry now is the small scale of enterprises and their ability to participate in international competition. Insufficient, in the future we should cultivate key enterprises and enhance their strength. Enterprises need to understand the development situation and find investment points. Future development must be orderly, and low-level duplication of construction must not be carried out, but the added value of products must be increased, application areas expanded, and vicious competition avoided.
Regarding the brand issue, the China Industrial Textiles Industry Association believes that brand is the lifeblood of an enterprise and the soul of competition. Whether an enterprise can cultivate its own strong brand is a concentrated expression of the enterprise’s quality and comprehensive strength. At present, the industrial textile industry does not have its own well-known international and domestic brands. The association will always be committed to carrying out brand cultivation programs to improve product standards, promote industry development, promote independent brands, and break through the record of zero international and domestic famous brands.
