Hygroscopicity: Vinylon is the most hygroscopic variety among synthetic fibers, with a moisture regain rate of 4.5% to 5%, which is close to cotton (8.5%). Vinylon textile fabric is comfortable to wear and suitable for making underwear.
Strength: The strength of vinylon is slightly higher than cotton and much higher than wool.
Corrosion resistance and light resistance: It is insoluble in general organic acids, alcohols, esters and petroleum solvents, is not susceptible to mildew, and has little intensity loss when exposed to sunlight.
Disadvantages: hot water resistance is not good enough, elasticity is poor, and dyeability is poor.
Vinylon is soft and warm, and its relative density is smaller than cotton. Therefore, the same weight of vinylon as cotton can weave more clothing. It has low thermal conductivity and therefore good warmth retention. Vinylon’s abrasion resistance and strength are also better than cotton, so vinylon can be blended with cotton in many ways to save cotton.
Vinylon is mainly used to make knitted fabrics such as outerwear, cotton sweaters, sweatshirts, etc. It can also be used in canvas, fishing nets, surgical sutures, bicycle tire cords, filter materials, etc.
Polyurethane fiber, referred to as PU, has elasticity unmatched by any other fiber. Its elongation at break is greater than 400%, usually between 500% and 700%, and can be as high as 800% or more. The elastic recovery rate when deformed by 300% reaches 95 % or above, it has excellent fatigue resistance and elastic recovery rate, and its elasticity is durable and does not deform.
Spandex production technology can be divided into four types according to the spinning process: dry method, wet method, reaction method and melting method. Fibers produced by different processes have greatly different properties.
Spandex Overview
Spandex is the trade name of polyurethane elastic fiber in my country. Spandex began industrial production in 1959. It is mainly used to weave elastic fabrics. Spandex yarn and other fibers are usually spun into core-spun yarn for weaving. It can be used to make various underwear, swimwear, tights, jeans, sportswear, elastic parts of belts, etc. Clothing made of spandex is comfortable to wear, can adapt to the deformation needs of various parts of the body, and can reduce the restraint of the clothing on the body.
The main physical and chemical properties of spandex
1. Shape The cross-section of polyester elastic fiber is broad bean-shaped, and the cross-section of polyether elastic fiber is triangular.
2. The strength of strong stretch and elastic spandex is very low, and the breaking strength of its filament is about 4~9cN/tex, but the elongation of spandex is very large, the breaking elongation is 450%~800%, and the elasticity is very good. Therefore, high elongation and high elasticity are the major characteristics of spandex.
3. Hygroscopicity and dyeability Spandex has poor hygroscopicity, and its moisture regain is about 0.8% to 1% under normal atmospheric conditions. But its dyeing performance is better.
