Add graphene (GP)

Striped GP or graphene oxide (GPO) reinforced fiber has been introduced. Its representative product is GP reinforced polyester produced by Toray, which has improved overall performance and has added antistatic and other functions.

The University of Tehran studies using electrospinning method to prepare GP-filled polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) nanofibers, which can be used in filter materials, biomedical, sensors, battery separators, mobile phones and impact protection products. wait.

Tsinghua University in Taiwan, China, developed self-assembled polyurethane nanofibers containing mixed silver and GP through electrospinning. As a flexible and transparent thin conductive film, the surface resistance is 150Ω/m2, which is suitable for future electrode materials.

In the field of high-performance fibers, many patent documents report that after adding strip GP to para-aramid or PAN spinning dope, the mechanical properties of the spun fibers or fired PAN-CF are improved.

The GP-containing ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber (UHMWPEF) process technology developed by Donghua University has been trial-produced in a 250t/a device built by Jiangsu Jiujiujiu Technology. However, due to the use of non-strip ordinary sheet GP, the mechanics The performance improvement is not obvious.

Added carbon nanotubes (CNTs)

The main production methods of CNT modified fiber are as follows: adding a small amount of CNT directly into the spinning solution to form composite fiber; growing CNT directly on the surface of the carbon fiber through chemical vapor deposition (CVD); chemically or physically bonding the CNT. CNT is grafted onto the surface of carbon fiber; it is coated on the fiber surface with the help of surface treatment agent.

The Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States has developed a method to add 1% multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) to the PAN spinning stock solution, and then carbonize it through gel spinning. The final carbonization temperature only needs 1450°C to produce conductivity as high as 68%. Carbon fiber. Its thermal conductivity is about 3000W/(m·K), which is 103% and 146% higher than Hexcel’s carbon fiber IM7 and Toray’s T300 PAN-CF respectively, while the former’s high carbonization temperature is higher than 2200°C; its tensile The modulus is increased by 45% and 21% compared to T300 and IM7 respectively, while the tensile strength decreases slightly. This is due to the penetration of trace amounts of metal during the preparation process.

An application example of the CVD method is to deposit CNTs on the surface of alumina fibers, which can significantly increase the interlaminar shear strength at the interface with the resin, but the mechanical properties are reduced. For example, Japan’s Unichico uses its nanodispersion technology to evenly and stably attach CNTs to the surface of PAN-CF, which improves the interlayer shear strength at the interface with the resin and suppresses the peeling force by about 30%. Due to the improved modulus, impact resistance and vibration attenuation resistance of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), its composite structural parts can be designed to be thin and lightweight.

There are also scientific research institutes and universities in my country developing similar CNT/CF, but they have not yet been put into practical use. Donghua University developed CNT-reinforced UHMWPE composite fibers many years ago, and has built a 100-ton production line at Hangzhou Southeast Textile Factory. The creep, heat resistance, flame retardancy and antistatic properties of the original UHMWPEF have been improved to some extent, but The stability of the product needs to be improved.
