The first phase trial of the first batch of “Guican No. 12” silkworm breed in Long’an, Guangxi has achieved phased results
Most of the silkworm cocoons in everyone’s mind are white, but have you ever seen a golden silkworm cocoon? Recently, the first phase trial of the newly introduced “Guisan No. 12” golden silkworm seed from Long’an County, Nanning City, Guangxi was successfully put into production and achieved phased trial results.
On July 5, the author visited the Zengli Mulberry and Sericulture Family Farm in Long’an County, located in Sanle Village, Dujie Township, and saw the person in charge of the farm, Meng Zengli, and the workers sorting silkworm cocoons. The farm is covered with silkworm cocoons with yellow silkworm cocoons, filled with the joy of harvest. I am used to seeing white silkworm cocoons in the past, but this golden cocoon is very attractive. Meng Zengli said that not only is the color different, this golden cocoon also has many advantages over ordinary silkworm cocoons.
The author learned from the County Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau that the scientific name of the golden silkworm cocoon variety introduced this time is “Guisan No. 12”. It is a new variety promoted by Nanning Sericulture Station this year. The breeding characteristics of this silkworm species are in line with Long’an County Due to the topography and climate conditions, this variety was introduced for the first phase of promotion trials.
It is understood that in the first phase of the county’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, a total of 15 pieces of “Guisan No. 12” silkworm seeds were released at the Zengli Mulberry and Sericulture Family Farm, all of which were older silkworms. Since the launch of the test on June 21, the first batch of cocoons has been received in less than 20 days. Golden silk cocoons are bright in color, and the processed silk fabrics are also naturally golden yellow, avoiding the addition of chemical dyes. The silk is fine and fluffy, and is suitable for the processing of mid-to-high-end silk products. At present, the wholesale price of gold silk in the market can reach 700-800 yuan per kilogram, and the market potential is huge.
According to test data, the weight of every 10,000 silkworm cocoons is 17.1 kilograms. Compared with the cocoon yield of ordinary varieties, the cocoon yield has been significantly improved. The first phase of the “Guican No. 12” silkworm seed trial has achieved phased results.
