Qiemo County, Xinjiang: Strengthening cotton field management to help cotton farmers increase production and income
At present, 37,000 acres of cotton in Tatirang Town, Xinjiang has entered the late stage of boll-bearing. In order to ensure a bumper cotton harvest this year, the Agricultural (Animal Husbandry) Development Service Center of Tatirang Town organized technical personnel to go deep into the fields to guide cotton farmers. For cotton, we recommend applying some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers appropriately, and paying attention to the prevention and control of pests and diseases, such as red spider mites, cotton bollworms, cotton yellowing disease, etc.” Agriculture (Animal Husbandry) Development Ahemati Barati, a technician at the service center, is providing guidance in the field. Tan Biwen, a cotton farmer in Taitukule Village, said: “This year, I have planted 100 acres of cotton. Technical staff regularly go to the fields to provide technical guidance on how to apply fertilizer and how to control diseases and pests. This year, the overall growth of cotton is better than In previous years, there are an average of seven or eight peaches on each one, and I estimate the yield per mu is more than 450 kilograms.”
