Recently, Professor Dai Fangyin, chief scientist of the National Sericulture Industry Technology System, went to Huzhou to investigate the current development status of the sericulture industry. Researcher Wang Yongqiang, director of the Silkworm Tea Institute of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wu Gang, deputy director of the Huzhou Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau and full-time deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Municipal Agricultural Science Center, associate researcher Zhou Wenlin, director of the Hangzhou Comprehensive Experiment Station, Qian Wenchun, director of the Huzhou Comprehensive Experiment Station Researchers and others accompanied the investigation.

The research team visited the core base of Mulberry Fish Pond, a globally important agricultural cultural heritage. In recent years, by introducing leading enterprises in the sericulture seed industry to settle in the core protected area, and applying intelligent facilities such as small silkworm co-breeding robots, we have actively built a labor-saving sericulture base and established a small silkworm breeding base. The mechanism of co-cultivating and dividing silkworms into households has innovated the sericulture industry and continuously injected new momentum into the vigorous development of Huzhou’s mulberry and fish pond industry. Dai Fangyin fully affirmed the win-win model of Huzhou’s mulberry fish pond protection and economic benefits, and expressed his hope to make a contribution to the integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary sericulture industries to help achieve new results in rural revitalization.

At Huzhou Xunhe Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., the research team inspected sericulture mechanization facilities and equipment such as a large silkworm recycling machine and a hybrid mulberry harvester to learn more about the company’s operations. Dai Fangyin expressed his opinion on the model’s application in the eastern silkworm area. He expressed his affirmation of the typicality and replicability, and communicated with the person in charge of the company on the current aspects of technology research and development, efficiency improvement, benefit output, etc., and put forward feasible suggestions on practical problems encountered in production.

At the Huzhou Agricultural Science Center, the supporting unit of the Huzhou Comprehensive Experiment Station, Dai Fangyin listened to the work report of the Huzhou Station and reviewed the National Sericulture Industry Technology System Work Promotion Conference and Sericulture Mechanized Planting and Breeding Site to be held in Huzhou in May. Arrangements were made for the inspection.
