It is understood that China’s cotton prices have not fluctuated much since October 2016, mainly due to the stable market price of China’s reserve cotton, Chinese cotton farmers began to expand planting area, and China’s yarn competitiveness gradually increased. In contrast, cotton prices in India and Pakistan are relatively high, and cotton production may rebound next year. In terms of chemical fiber, polyester prices began to fall in March, with prices in China falling by 15%, India falling by 7.7%, and Pakistan falling by 6%. Subsequently, polyester staple fiber prices were lowered in May, with China falling by 2.4%, India falling by 2.3%, and Pakistan falling by 1.6%. As the price gap between cotton and polyester further expands, especially the continued decline in the price of polyester in China, it boosts the demand for polyester from Chinese textile companies and limits the decline in the share of Chinese textiles in the global market.
