China Textile Coordination Research: The home textile industry pays equal attention to export markets

From February 12 to 16, Yang Donghui, vice president of the China Textile Industry Association and president of the China Home Textile Association, led a team to implement the textile industry adjustment and revitalization plan to Chuanjiang Town and Xianfeng Town, Tongzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and Sanxing Town, Haimen City; Home textile industry clusters focusing on bedding, such as Pujiang City in Zhejiang Province and Qiantan Town in Jiande City, have conducted industrial development research.
In 2008, the bedding and home textile industry cluster faced a severe situation and still maintained a steady growth trend. There was no large-scale enterprise closures, showing a strong ability to resist risks. However, the growth rate of sales and profits fell back. The total output value of the textile industry in Tongzhou, Jiangsu Province increased by 12.2% year-on-year, Sanxing Town in Haimen City increased by 14% year-on-year, the quilting industry in Pujiang City, Zhejiang Province increased by 15% year-on-year, and the sales output value of the home textile industry in Qiantan Town, Jiande City increased by 8.6%. The major problems faced by the home textile industry cluster are concentrated in three aspects: difficulty in corporate loans, rising production costs, and reduced orders. Enterprises generally hope that the state will increase the implementation and support of policies in terms of corporate financing channels and reduction of production costs.
After the Spring Festival in 2009, the operating rates of enterprises in these clusters were around 80%. Enterprises generally reported that reduced orders and insufficient business were major problems.
Yang Donghui said that most home textile companies are still in the process of transforming from the extensive stage of development to the competitive stage. The arrival of the crisis has accelerated the pace of transformation and forced companies to seek positive and effective changes. He encouraged enterprises to actively respond to difficulties and accumulate strength in the crisis to welcome new life.
