Mercosur revise regional labeling requirements for textiles and apparel
Mercosur recently issued a regulation amending the current regional labeling requirements for textiles and clothing. Member states have been given until June 15 to incorporate these new requirements into their national legislation.
Compared with the previous resolution 33/07, the new regulations have not changed much. The following are some revisions that require attention:
1. When the weight percentage of one fiber is less than 5% or the weight percentage of two or more fibers is less than 15%, the label can be disclosed as “other fibers” or “other fibers” (this threshold is currently is 10%);
2. When textile yarn is added to a fabric made of different yarns and thus becomes an integral part of the fabric, the fiber content of the fabric in the label must reflect the combination of the yarns;

3. Compared with the current ISO3758:2005 standard, care labels must refer to the ISO3758:2013 standard;
4. It is required to use the nursing symbols in the ISO3758:2013 standard in the correct order and meet relevant conditions;
5. Add elastic polyester and melamine as general fibers to be displayed in the label.
